Dr. Binyamin Oz

Binyamin Oz is a senior lecturer in the Operations Research Department. He currently serves as a council member of the Operations Research Society of Israel (ORSIS), and as a member of INFORMS Applied Probability Society.

His field of expertise is operations research, and his areas of research focus are queueing models, decision making, and strategic behavior in queues. His findings relate to stochastic processes and modeling, applied probability, queuing theory, and game theory.

Dr. Oz was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Statistics at the University of Auckland. His research has been published in Management Science, European Journal of Operational Research, Queueing Systems: Theory and Applications, Naval Research Logistics, Queueing Models and Service Management, Management Science, and Operations Research Letters.

He won the Takács Award for outstanding Ph.D. dissertation from SMACS Research Group at Ghent University; and the Abraham Mehrez Prize for Excellent Work of a Graduate Student in Operations Research from ORSIS. Additionally, he has been awarded research grants from several academic institutions, including the Israel Science Foundation and the Faculty Research Development Fund of the University of Auckland.

Dr. Oz earned his Ph.D. in statistics from the Hebrew University through the direct track from M.A. studies in Statistics and Operations Research. He holds a B.A. in statistics and economics from the Hebrew University. He teaches the courses Stochastic Models, Decision-Making in Service Systems, Non-Linear Optimization, and Quantitative Models.
