Prof. Anat Bracha

Prof. Anat Bracha is an Associate Professor in the Banking and Finance Department at the Hebrew University Business school, focusing on research that integrates insights from psychology into economics and is applicable to public policy.

Her work spans topics from risk perception to image motivation and negative interest rates. Her work on risk perception, for instance, provides insight as to why educational campaigns may be ineffective or even backfire; and her work on image motivation proposes conditions under which tax breaks would be most effective to encourage adoption of environmentally-friendly technologies.

Prior to joining the Hebrew University, Prof. Bracha was a senior economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, an assistant professor at Tel Aviv University, and a visiting scholar at Harvard University, the University of Pittsburgh, and a visiting professor at Yale University. Her research has been published in the American Economic Review, Management Science, Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of Public Economics, Games and Economic Behavior, Labour Economics, Economics Letters, Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Journal of Behavioral Decision Making, and the B.E. Journal of Macroeconomics.

Her work has been quoted in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Seeking Alpha, Bloomberg, the Boston Globe, Business Insider, The Economist, and Globes. 

Prof. Bracha earned her Ph.D. in Economics at Yale University. She holds an M.Phil. and M.A. in Economics from Yale University, and a B.A. in Economics from Bar-Ilan University. Prof. Bracha teaches the courses Business Economics, and Game Theory.
